Fray Bentos hails from the Midlands, where he first cut his teeth in the early ’90s, blagging sets on the free party scene. Later moving to Brixton, South London, he ran his own night, Deep Fried, at the legendary Dogstar for 15 years, sharing the decks with icons such as Swayzak, Inland Knights, Bent, DiY, and Neon Heights.
As his musical journey evolved, so did his style—shifting from deep house to an eclectic mix of funk, soul, hip-hop, funky breaks, and disco… LOTS of disco! His passion for edits and grooves has seen releases on respected labels including Katakana Edits, Tropical Disco, Spaindisco, Hot Digits, Hot Gorilla, Alpaca Edits, and Discoholics Anonymous.
Fray was also a co-resident with Brighton’s infamous Soul Casserole crew for a decade, supporting legends like Norman Jay, Craig Charles, Don Letts, Gilles Peterson, Crazy P, and The Reflex.
