From classical piano prodigy to dance music innovator, Ed Paterson’s musical journey has been anything but ordinary. Trained as a pianist from a young age, Ed quickly found himself captivated by hip hop, acid house, and the UK rave movement. Trading Mozart and Beethoven for improvisation and groove, he immersed himself in Jazz, Blues, and the fast-rising world of electronic dance culture. Ed’s passion for music runs deep, studying everything from African American spirituals and early slave songs to modern music technology, sequencing, and live performance. After a degree in Music & Performing Arts, Ed spent years in professional theatre, mastering every aspect of production—from sound and lighting to stage performance and earning critical acclaim, including headline reviews in The Stage and other national publications. For over three decades, Ed performed with a wide range of live bands, from Irish folk ensembles to original psychedelic funk outfits, honing his ability to connect with audiences of all kinds. His most notable band project, Ricky & The Hats, became a festival favourite and recently returned for a sold-out reunion in Tunbridge Wells. Behind the scenes, Ed has quietly been producing dance-inspired tracks for years, recently launching his own imprint, Submix Records, and releasing music on Spotify. He also hosts the weekly “Global Dance with Ed Paterson” show on Ashdown Radio (Saturdays 9pm–Midnight), curating a vibrant mix of global dance music spanning genres and eras. His interactive, community-driven approach and carefully crafted playlists have made the show a listener favourite. Expanding his reach globally, Ed delivers two monthly shows on Dance Attack FM—a one-hour trance journey on the first Monday of each month and a two-hour psytrance exploration on the second Monday. His guest mixes have been featured on HouseTech Radio, LDN Radio, and Noise Pollution Promotions, and he topped the Mixcloud Global Science Chart with his four-part series Making of a DJ. Driven by a deep love of dance music across genres, Ed aims to take his listeners on a journey of connection, peace, and unity through sound, proving that music is not just for the body, but for the soul. There is so much more in between, and Ed has so many other reasons for doing what he does, but for now just wants everyone to let the music do the speaking and is mega honoured to be given the opportunity to join the crew and connect with the CodeSouth audience.

Kooky is based in Brighton. Plays Tech House, Afro House and Breakbeat. Has only been DJing a year and a half, after mysteriously recovering from years of Hyperacusis, making listening to music painful. Finally able to see her favourite influences Dom Dolla, John Summit and Gorgon City live. Was taught to DJ in a quick intensive method, by agreeing to taking part in a charity gig for Mind at Brighton Electric back in May 2023. Kooky appears at open deck venues Block Bar, Tiki Hut, The Mesmerist and upstairs at Rybka. Despite being neurodiverse Kooky continues to improve her DJ style. Loves nothing more than seeing people on the dancefloor vibing to her music. Kooky’s aims are to produce her own tracks in the future. @djkooky1

Phil played guitar and electronic percussion in live rock bands before realising that after learning to play instruments, DJing shouldn’t present any problems….and it hasn’t. After twenty years or so rocking stages across Europe in bands, AND DJing, he submerged himself in digital engineering and production. He soon released many collaborations with Ali Wilson on Ali’s own label Tekelec, as well as on Tidy Trax, Recoverworld, and Flashover. Phil’s own productions and remixes have been released on, and with some pending on Hautboxx Records, Vesta Records, Prognosis and Oxytech. He’s still also rocking hard as the bassist in punk rock band Desperate Measures.

Young up and coming DJ, llama G has been on the scene from the age of 15, playing Festivals around the UK to venues in Brighton. At Codesouth.FM he will be bringing all the freshest new Drum N Bass and House tunes every Tuesday from 4-6PM.

Nick T has been DJing for far longer than is probably healthy, but doesn’t intend to stop any time soon… He currently hosts the Monday morning show on CodeSouth.FM and has been / is a resident DJ in landmark hotels, bars and events in Brighton and London, playing events as varied as SoulShyne, Sassy Cabaret, March Of The Mermaids, much loved “festival in a club” Rumpus, Spank, and the legendary Torture Garden. Musically he plays a wide variety of styles, from Soulful, Funky, Afro/Latin/Brazilian and Deep House to Disco (classic and new), and from Jackin to Tech House with the occasional foray into classic hip-hop, glitch and party breaks, plus harder dance and Techno – the latter mostly at Brighton’s “Spank” parties. Nick loves playing long, all night sets, but is happy playing at any time, and particularly relishes the opportunity to play all day beachside and rooftop sessions whenever the sun decides to come out. He’s also been involved […]
